Solar Box Cooker Pil Kaar
We produce the single mirror solar cooker Pil Kaar with a quadrangular cooking compartment and inner reflectors. Please order by [eMail] or with the [order form]. In case of questions please take advantage of our [Service form]. The cookers of type Pil Kaar
Security note: These cookers develop high temperatures. That's what they are meant to do. Ensure that protective gloves, pads or cloth are used when handling the cooker and always turn the cooker away from the sun prior to handling. Avoid looking at the reflective and/or focussing surfaces to avoid dazzling or blinding effects. Always allow the devices to cool down prior to transporting or stowing. Do not spill liquds on the glass during operation because it might crack. The cookers are developed to cook food and should not be used for any other means.

Effective May 2010 the cookers Pil Kaar and Kundu Kaar are not in our sales programme anymore. Anyhow, we inform you about performance details to encourage you to build your own. The Pil Kaar is constructed not only to satisfy clients living in the equatorian belt, but in all zones of the world between 45° south and 45° north. Due to the mirror system the maximum power of 246 Watts will be obtained once the sun reaches 75° above horizon. Once the sun rays come in vertically "only" 240 Watts will be produced.
Under certain circumstances, the above mentioned 246 Watts can be reached already at sun's elevation of 71° above horizon. This would be the case in central Europe from the entire month of June until middle of July under a clear sky. Take advantage of the [on line calculation] by clicking on this link.
The zones of highest energy production are between 54° south and 54° north. This means that more than half of the world's surface is perfect for operating the solar cooker. One can use it to heat or cook food and beverages, make jelly or pickles, right where the fruit or vegetables are harvested, without paying anything for electricity, gasoline or camping gas since the sun is shining for everybody free of charge.
The cooker has a low weight, depending on the configuration, and has a high degree of stability, but one should not drop it to avoid bending or cracking. Highest energy output is given with cleaned glass surface and mirror. The mirror is made of high gloss polished, eloxated aluminium and should be cleaned only with a soft tissue made of cotton or similar material. Dents or scratches will lead to a drastic reduction in the reflected sun energy.
Common single mirror box type cookers heat just the top of the pot and have aluminium foils as reflectors. With the Pil Kaar, you will heat also the space behind the pot. Using foil, a 50 per cent loss can be reckoned with, but 95 per cent of the solar rays are reflected by polished aluminium. The very high standard of construction, testing and material quality are the reasons why this cooker is not to be considered as a so called "cheap item".
The French polar institute uses solar cookers from Mueller Solartechnik for their scientific work. For this special case the cookers are equipped with different reflectors as well as heavy-duty handles and materials to withstand the high-duty in an extremely cold environment.
All given performance data are calculated at standard insolation of 1000 Watts per square metre (1 square metre = approx 11 square feet). The [on line calculation] is computed with the results measured at Frankfurt am Main, Germany, at an insolation of approximately 900 W/m².

Parabolic Solar Cooker Kundu Kaar
The construction is really easy: glue the reflector segments to one another, put the mirror on the segments, glue the frame around it and attach the parabolic mirror to the chassis. You just need to tighten a few screws to finish the construction. You do not need special tools. All parts are pre-manufactured and pre-punched. Even the necessary glue is supplied with the parts. Although the price is very low, the Kundu Kaar is a fully operating solar cooker with which one can boil 1 litre of water within 25 minutes. The power of max. 385 Watts also allows water and food to be pasteurized. With two of these cookers one can cook two different meals in parallel, for example a soup and a stew. Since the entire pot is heated by the solar radiation, it should be taken aside from time to time and the food stirred, otherwise else it may stick to the side walls of the pot. You can obtain enough technical information by clicking [here]. The packing carton's size is 80x20x10 cm at a weight of 3.1 kgs without pot and 3.7 kgs with pot. You can expect the shipping charges to be very low for this reason. According to our researches, this is the cheapest solar cooker which can be used for serious cooking. Cheap items from the far east, not even reaching the power of the Kundu Kaar, are sold at prices of 100 dollars and above. But: one cannot fry or bake, since the developed power is not sufficient for a continuous amount of time. During tests with hot oil a maximum temperature of 170°C (338°F) has been reached. Solar cookers of this kind with a constant standard of quality, are manufactured in large runs and come with a low price. This is an alert for dealers, of course. If you are dealer or distributor, and want to add the solar cooker Kundu Kaar to your sales, please contact the manufacturer by [clicking here to get to the form]. Please mention there your VAT-ID-Number and your registration details. You will receive the entire documentations by regular mail after receipt of your information. All technical performance details are with reference to standardized conditions: 1kW/m² insolation, clear sky, 1.5 atmospheric mass and 25°C environmental temperature. |

Solar Cooking Unit Primrose
The reflector can be folded away, which allows for straightforward transportation or storage. In addition, this cooking unit combines the advantages of a parabolic cooker with those of a box cooker, in that it possesses a so-called heat-trap: the sun's rays are reflected by the mirror through a window into the cooking space. This space is also equipped with internal mirrors and well insulated. This ensures that the energy cannot dissipate and remains fully available for cooking. The work-plate has a rectangular opening, into which one can place the desired insert, for example for pots, fish-cookers, frying pans, etcetera. In case you order the pot together with the cooking unit kit you will find the opening already cut out. The pot will fit perfectly in there. One consequence of the construction of this equipment is that the sun must be at a minimum of 30 degrees above the horizon. This means that the Primrose can not develop maximum temperatures in middle or northern Europe during the winter months. As soon as the sun reaches this minimum angle, however, the unit reveals its power: under 1 kW/m² global radiation it develops almost 400 watts of energy. Alongside the general safety rules which must be observed when operating any solar-energy equipment, it is important when using this cooking unit to ensure that the reflector must only be opened after the cooking container (e.g., cooking pot) has been inserted, in order to avoid dazzling. Likewise, the reflector must first be closed before removing the cooking container. Should you not have black cooking pots handy, we would advise you to order these together with the cooking unit, as a separate order obviously incurs additional packing and carriage costs. Due to the shape we would advise to choose the heavy-quality pots. When folded together, the solar cooking unit measures 70 x 40 x 92 cm (length x width x height) and weights approx. 11 kg. The size of the shipping carton is 100 x 60 x 16 cm and weights 16 kg with cooking unit and 20 kg with a 3.1 Liters pot. The solar cooking unit MS-ST9 Primrose is available as a DIY kit for 241.00 €. All about the Parabola: Our chief constructor published a brochure in German language and gave it the name "Die Parabel". This brochure is in the size DIN A4 (29.7 by 21 cms) and has 24 richly illustrated pages. One can learn everything about the parabola, even with less education than high school or college degree. Orders can be placed on line with the [Order Form]. A free update can be found at http://www.mueller-solartechnik.com/download/parabel2.htm which is also a style sample of the entire brochure.
